LEVER: CHINESE MINERS' MEMORIAL SCULPTURE

Sculpture submission for Kumara Residents Trust (KRT) Chinese Miners Memorial Reserve Memorial Park


The theme of the sculpture is to acknowledge the miners from different nationalities who contributed to the Kumara community in the gold rush days Lever: Prising wealth from the earth. Enterprise, efficiency, ingenuity, patience and sheer hard work. 250mm x 250mm x 6ooomm hardwood pole, painted red, with forged, rusting iron pry point.  Jade or serpentine fulcrum. A selected local rock. Gold leaf and solar driven LED accent light to the underside of the rock. Foundation; simple concrete slab. Estimated budget $7500, (depending on source of materials)
